About Andrea

Andrea grew up and was schooled in Bendigo, in regional Victoria.

From there, she moved to Canberra and studied law at the Australian National University. 

Upon completion of her degree, Andrea moved to Melbourne and spent 30 years as a prosecutor with the Commonwealth Director of Public Prosecutions (CDPP). She was involved in a broad array of prosecutions, including cases relating to drugs, fraud, organised crime and counter-terrorism. She became a senior executive within the CDPP in 2004. Between 2017-2021 she was the head of the CDPP’s legal practice in her role as the Commonwealth Solicitor for Public Prosecutions. During her career she was mainly based in Melbourne, but also lived in Sydney during 2016-2017.

Following her retirement from legal practice in 2021, Andrea commenced a Bachelor of Arts at the University of New England in 2021 and is studying writing, archaeology, Australian history and Indigenous studies. 

Andrea has travelled widely, including through Africa, the Middle East, South America and throughout Australia.

Andrea’s interest in history and prehistory has led to her involvement with the Eromanga Natural History Museum in Queensland. Since 2021, Andrea has regularly participated in the museum’s dinosaur and megafauna digs. She also volunteers her time as a fossil preparator at the museum’s laboratory. 

Andrea writes short fiction and she is currently working on a trilogy of novels.

She is a member of the Australian Society of Authors and Writers Victoria.
